This will be a short post today, but my heart is full and I feel so blessed by two big events in our lives at the moment. The first event is the big transition to college for our oldest child. Seattle Pacific University did a great job making us feel happy this past week to leave our oldest daughter there, and even grateful for the opportunity to write rather large checks for the privilege! Seriously, it is a school with clear priorities and a lot of enthusiasm. We are grateful that our daughter chose to go there and we will be praying for her continued growth while under their wing. And, we are feeling a little overwhelmed by those large checks.
The second event came in the middle of the first event: picking up a Japanese exchange student from the airport. She was nervous and we were nervous! Remember the post, “Everyone is Everywhere?” The one where I wrote about being a good Christian example to foreigners, because everyone we meet is watching us and only a Facebook message away from exposing our words or deeds to people across the world? Well, here in the midst of our week with our Japanese exchange student, it is great. Great, and difficult. Remember my request for prayer? Please do pray for us! Pray for our youngest daughter as she learns to communicate slowly and clearly. Pray that she will be attentive to ways that she might be needed by our student. Pray for me to remember the few Japanese words I know! Our student is so darling and kind, and even though she knows some English and I know some Japanese, it is still so hard to make ourselves understood to one another when we veer away from the most basic conversation. Thank you so much for praying for us! Both daughters have these amazing opportunities right now, and we are grateful, even as we feel a little overwhelmed by it all.
Do you ever feel two big emotions at once?

    1. You’re right, Cinda! There are probably more than two I could talk about right now, but those are two biggies! Thank you for the great big American welcome to our exchange student this morning. I’m sure she felt warmly greeted!
