Your Work Plus God’s Silence Equals God’s Mighty Plan?

Why is God silent sometimes? Whether or not you’re a writer, you may have wondered this at some point in your life. If that’s you, check out my guest blog post that fellow Christian writer, Dawn Kinzer, asked me to write for the website she helps coordinate, Seriously Write. Then take a look around the rest of her inspirational website!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone! I am thankful for many things this year, especially my family, but also for the kids who are telling me that they have read Sophie’s Quest three times and they can’t wait for the sequel (released today on Amazon!). Their love for the book and its characters feels especially sweet this year as I reflect on the journey–including periods of puzzling silence–that got the book into their hands.

Blessings to each one of you!

  1. Sonja, what an amazing story! God truly does work in mysterious ways, ways that we will most likely never be able to understand, especially those of us who are not very patient (guilty). Your post could not have come at a better time as I’ve been feeling pretty down about my writing career lately–that seems to be stuck in the mud, going nowhere. And as I often do, I considered giving up. But then yesterday, a couple things happened–I read your post AND I found out that my book is a finalist in a Book Awards competition. Needless to say, I won’t be giving up just yet.

Much congratulations on the release of your new book! I can’t wait to read it! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

    • I’m so excited for your book becoming a finalist! Please keep me posted as to results! I’m so happy, also, that my post came at a good time for you. Please don’t give up! I’ve also had setbacks recently with picture books, so I have to believe that God has a plan for those as well. Besides the MeeGenius merger that orphaned my Luna Crane, another company told me that they were writing the contract for National Park Wheels on the Bus, only to rescind the promise two months later. That hurt!

      • Oh dear, so sorry about National Park Wheels on the Bus. It’s such a great concept. I have to believe that if one publisher liked it then another will to.

Speaking of MeeGenius, I contacted HMH back in July to please remove Dinosaur Tag from the MeeGenius site because it being posted there could be a legal hindrance to submitting it elsewhere. I was told their tech team was working on it, but here it is November and it’s still up. *sigh*

      • Interesting! I hadn’t thought about that! Good luck submitting it to someone else!
