Coming Soon: “You, Rat!” How You Got Your Name (Week 1)

After Sophie Topfeather and a severely injured Timley Mouse return home from their quest to the Holy Land in Sophie’s Quest, a despondent Sophie picks up a Bible off her grandfather’s bookshelf and begins to read it. She’s surprised to read the same story about Jesus’ birth that she and Timley had heard in Bethlehem from Shep, the Sheepdog.

Intrigued, Sophie wants to know more, but the Bible is big and hard for her to understand. Her grandfather, the Great Wise Horned Owl of the Park, takes a look and comes up with a list of ten interesting stories about animals in the Bible.

Sophie and a healing Timley invite their friends to join them, although Sophie is more successful than Timley (“I’m not going anywhere to read anything with no owls, and I don’t care what the rules are!” said one mouse friend).

The animals spend the summer reading the stories together under the moonlight in the Park’s playground fort. Won’t you join them? Look for a new blog series beginning soon called Ten Interesting Animals of the Bible, a Bible study for kids (and adults) who also want to know more. Each new story will have an audio reading to click on, and some questions to think about.

Feel free to share them!

(A word of warning: I hope the Bible study doesn’t cause as much trouble for you as it does for Sophie and Timley and the rest of their friends! All that trouble is coming up in 2016 in the sequel, Sophie Topfeather, Superstar!)

A lovely idea, Sonja! I’m sure it will be a huge hit! By the way, my own blog is not a WordPress page. I just have an account to be able to comment on WordPress blogs. My own blog is http://vallypee.blgospot.com if you’re interested 🙂
