Wednesday’s Word to the Free: Merry Christmas!

Nativity in tree Jesus stood up in the synagogue and read from the scroll of the prophet, Isaiah, which had been handed to him:

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Isaiah 61:1-2.

He sat down and told the people who had known him from his childhood that the prophecy had been fulfilled in their hearing.

Read Luke 4:20-30 to hear how the crowd was impressed at first, then wanted to throw him over a cliff!

What will our response be to Jesus’ coming?

Come, Lord Jesus! May we welcome you here today!
